Anti-Crime
The Lancaster Alliance has created new organizations when they are needed to tackle crime problems. Sometimes, The Alliance takes a leadership role. Other times, The Alliance supports the leadership of others.
Lancaster Police Foundation
Alliance members created the Police Foundation in order to augment City Police. The foundation is a tax-exempt charitable non-profit that promotes civic spirit in support of public safety, provides equipment and training to the police, and educates children and young adults about safety issues in schools and other local settings.
Lancaster Community Safety Coalition
The Lancaster Crime Commission recommended a video protection program, supported by improvements in things like lighting to reduce crime and act as a deterrent. The Alliance convened the initial meetings, and worked with stakeholder to complete the initial Feasibility Study from which the Safety Coalition was formed. The Community Coalition currently has 165 high-tech cameras throughout the City and has unique working relationships with City Police and the 911 Call Center.
East King Improvement District
The City Crime Commission recommended the creation of an improvement district along the East King Street Corridor to downtown Lancaster. The Alliance and other partners assisted Tabor Community Services to submit a successful five-year grant by which the East King Improvement District was launched. Using a neighborhood-based approach, this organization has helped to reduce crime rates and improve the environment for private investment.
